Sync Acuity Scheduling with Google Calendar
Send your Acuity appointments to Google Calendar and let your Google events block off time in Acuity, so clients can't book over them. Steps checked against the vendor's help articles on 2026-10-28 (article last updated 2026-04-10).
We built this guide from Acuity Scheduling Help Center: Setting up Google Calendar syncing and Acuity Scheduling Help Center: Syncing your calendar. We haven't run this setup in our own business yet, so follow the vendor's article if anything on screen looks different.
What you need
- An Acuity Scheduling account (the articles don't name a plan requirement)
- A Google account with Google Calendar
- Each person who logs into Acuity can connect one Google account, and each user can have only one Google sync
Steps
- Open calendar sync. In Acuity, click Sync with Other Calendars, then click Google.
- Connect Google. Click Connect to Google Calendar and follow the prompts to sign in to your Google account.
- Pick a Google calendar for each Acuity calendar. Use the Google Calendar dropdown to choose which Google calendar each Acuity calendar connects to. To leave an Acuity calendar out, keep it on Select a calendar … (not syncing).
- Turn on blocking. To have Google events block off time in Acuity, check the box under the dropdown. If you have more Google calendars, another dropdown appears so you can add them as blocking calendars too.
- Save. Click Save. Your appointments now go to the topmost Google calendar you picked.
Limits to know
- Only the topmost Google calendar receives your Acuity appointments; the extra calendars you add only block off time.
- Availability is always set in Acuity; your Google Calendar can't change it.
- Make changes, cancellations and reschedules in Acuity. Changes made in Google Calendar won't work, and the next sync replaces them with what Acuity has.
- Google events only block time if you turn on blocking. Events marked Free, events more than 200 days out, events during times you're unavailable in Acuity, and calendars you can only read don't sync in.
- Blocked-off time you create in Acuity and padding before or after appointments don't go to Google; only the appointment length does.
- Classes show up in Google only once someone signs up, and each attendee appears as a separate appointment.
- By default other Acuity users can see the titles of your synced Google events; check Hide event title to show only "Busy".
- If you disconnect, appointments already in Google stay there, past Google events stay in Acuity, and future Google events disappear from Acuity.
Acuity's Help Center has separate setup articles for Microsoft Outlook, iCloud and a one-way sync for other calendar systems.
