Two-way sync between Boulevard and Google Calendar

Block off personal Google Calendar events in Boulevard so clients can't book over them, and see Boulevard appointments in Google Calendar. Built in, set up per staff member. Steps checked against the vendor's help article on 2026-10-26 (article last updated 2026-05-22).

We built this guide from Boulevard Support Center: Personal Calendar Syncing. We haven't run this setup in our own business yet, so follow the vendor's article if anything on screen looks different.

What you need

  • A Boulevard user with the "Sync Calendar" permission enabled (each staff member syncs their own calendar)
  • A Google account with Google Calendar, on a computer: Boulevard notes Google Calendar sharing settings can only be changed on a computer, not in the mobile app

Steps

  1. Copy your Google Calendar's secret address. On a computer, open Google Calendar. Next to the calendar's name, open its options and click Settings and Sharing. Scroll to Integrate Calendar and copy the Secret address in iCal format.
  2. Check the access setting. On that same page, Boulevard says the calendar must be made available to public under Access permissions for events for events to sync properly with Boulevard.
  3. Import it into Boulevard. In Boulevard, open the dropdown menu at the top right and go to My Settings, then Calendar Integrations, then Import External Calendars. Name the calendar and paste the Google link. You can choose whether event titles show; if hidden, events just say "Blocked".
  4. Add Boulevard to Google Calendar. Back in Google Calendar on a computer, click the + next to Other Calendars and choose From URL. Enter your Boulevard Private Calendar URL from your Boulevard settings and click Add Calendar.

Limits to know

  • Personal events sync into Boulevard as Personal time blocks. Clients can't book during them and only see that the time is unavailable.
  • Only 2 months of appointments sync with your personal calendar.
  • Events must be edited in the calendar they were created in.
  • Google Calendar and Outlook refresh only once a day (iCal can auto-refresh every 5 minutes), and the first sync can take up to 48 hours to show on your personal calendar.
  • Recurring events created on your personal calendar are not supported and may not sync.

Using Apple Calendar instead? The same Boulevard article has iCloud steps for both directions.
