Connect Google Calendar to Calendly

Let Calendly check your Google Calendar for busy times and add new bookings to it, so clients can't double-book you. Built in, on every Calendly plan. Steps checked against the vendor's help article on 2026-10-28 (article last updated 2026-09-04).

We built this guide from Calendly Help: How to connect your Google Calendar. We haven't run this setup in our own business yet, so follow the vendor's article if anything on screen looks different.

What you need

  • A Calendly account. Calendly's article says this is available to all users on all plans (what each person can change still depends on their role in the organization)
  • A Google account with Google Calendar

Steps

  1. Open calendar settings. In Calendly, go to Settings, then Scheduling, then Calendars.
  2. Connect Google Calendar. For your first calendar, select Connect next to Google Calendar. To add another calendar, select + Connect calendar account, then choose Google Calendar. If you signed up with a Google email address, it may already be connected; if it's listed there, you're set.
  3. Sign in to Google. Sign in to your Google account when prompted. You'll return to Calendly once signed in.
  4. Pick the calendars to check. Under Calendars to check for conflicts, choose which calendars Calendly checks. You show as unavailable during any busy events on them.
  5. Pick where bookings go. Under Calendar to add events to, choose the calendar where Calendly adds new meetings.
  6. Set the optional sync settings. Decide on Include buffers on this calendar (adds your buffer time as separate events in Google Calendar) and Automatically sync cancellations and reschedules from this calendar to Calendly.

Limits to know

  • Calendly adds new meetings to only the one calendar you pick under Calendar to add events to, and to no other calendar.
  • With the cancellations and reschedules setting on, declining or deleting a Calendly meeting in Google Calendar cancels it in Calendly, and changing its date or time reschedules it in Calendly.
  • If invitees change or delete the event in their own calendars, it doesn't affect the meeting.
  • Deleting a buffer event in Google Calendar also removes it from Calendly.
  • Google Calendar may add a video link such as Google Meet to every new event by default. Calendly points to Google's own article to turn that off; on a managed Google Workspace account, your admin may need to change it.

Using Outlook or Exchange instead? Calendly's Help Center has a separate "Connect your calendar" article that covers Google, Outlook/Office 365 and Exchange.
