Storm prep: trucks ready before the snow
How my snow removal company stops getting surprised by storms.
The problem
Storms used to surprise our small crew. By the time we knew one was coming, there wasn't much time to get plows, salt and people ready.
The setup
1. Every Saturday, a routine scans the 10-day snow forecast.
↓
2. The day before a possible storm, a 1-day storm check runs.
↓
3. If snow is coming, it triggers prep: plows, salt and crew.
↓
4. The trucks are ready before the snow starts.
- Two checks: a weekly look ahead and a day-before confirmation.
- The routine runs on its own, so I don't have to remember to check the weather.
The result
The trucks are ready before the snow.
What I'd tell another owner
- Look ahead weekly, then confirm the day before.
- Tie the forecast check to a prep list, not just an alert.
- Let a routine do the watching so it never gets skipped.
